LTDA., a perishable goods exporter and part of the foreign trade logistics chain, establishes minimum security criteria as fundamental bases to be used to implement effective security practices that optimize the performance of the logistics chain and mitigate the risk of loss, theft, money laundering, and drug trafficking; preventing illicit activities, corruption, and bribery; with the purpose of instilling trust in our clients by complying with current legislation and committing to continually improve our management system.

Despite the global crisis and the difficulties caused by COVID-19, Ecuador has followed and complied with all the biosafety and food safety regulations that the international market requires for adequate and safe trade for all parties.

The Minister of Production, Foreign Trade, Investment, and Fisheries, Iván Ontaneda Berrú, has stated that the country continues to comply with food safety regulations for both domestic food supplies for Ecuadorians in quarantine and for export products.

"Due to the high quality standards of its products, Ecuador has already conquered many markets; and now, despite the emergency, we continue to guarantee strict sanitary controls on our export products," he said.

The executive president of the Chamber of Industries and Production, Pablo Zambrano Albuja, shared this opinion: "The production and export chains currently operating comply with biosafety standards and measures for both industrial workers and products; the goal is to keep the country supplied and not hinder Ecuadorian exports to various international markets."

Meanwhile, the president of the Ecuadorian Business Committee, Caterina Costa, stated that the country's industrial sector has responded immediately to the challenges of the emergency. "The fishery, shrimp, banana, canned fruit and vegetable, and other agricultural and manufactured product industries have not stopped, implementing biosafety measures that guarantee the health of their workers and the safety of their products in procurement, production, transportation, and marketing," she stated.

Since the beginning of the health emergency, the National Government has activated coordination mechanisms in all areas of national coexistence and in the various branches of the productive chains in the food, pharmaceutical, healthcare, and export sectors to meet domestic and external demand.

Among the asepsis standards recently introduced due to COVID-19 are the implementation of disinfection arches and the use of antiseptic products recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) for cleaning and purifying containers entering the country and those being exported.

Despite the crisis, Ecuador's various regulatory agencies have continued to carry out and issue phytosanitary export controls and certifications, as well as Good Agricultural Practices, among others.

The Ecuadorian National Customs Service (Senae) closes the circle of this process, continuing to guarantee the normal development of international trade under strict health protocols, handling import and export processes and clearances with complete normality.
